Abstract

Flies are mechanical vectors that carry pathogens that cause various diseases.
There is a tradition that is believed by the people to repel flies in various food stalls, putting
a plastic bag filled with water that is filled by red chili. This unique tradition makes
researchers intereseted to scintifically proving the truth. The purpose of this study is to
examine the tradition of plastic bags containing water and red chili as a scientific fly repellent.
The method used in this research is experimental research with group comparison. The
independent variables in this study are various types of water bag to cheat the flies’ eyes. The
dependent variable used in this study is the number of flies that approaching the food.
distracting objects affects the number of flies that avoid the food. The color of the most
effective deception object to repel flies is red chili and red bag. Plastic bags containing red
chili can be applied to control flies naturally and economically.
