Abstract

Indonesians like to sing. Singing has the power to change moods and evoke the
memories and feelings. In certain situations, someone can accidentally sing a song.
This will cause a response from friends who hear it. The purpose of this study is to
determine the spontaneous response when hearing a friend who sing a song and the
reason. The study was conducted in two stages, first: a survey using a cluster random
sampling technique to obtain data on the type of song and the form of responses
when a friend sings; second, this experiment is using the result of the first stage
survey and the reason. The experiment carried out on unknown group. The result
obtained that 80% of students respond to their friend who is singing. In this case the
highest responses of the samples are when they listen to a local song which use the
local language (Java). While others experiment in unknown group obtained that 53%
respondents are participating in singing. It has been proven that most of samples are
respond by continuing to sing a song which sung by their friend. Therefore, the
situation turns into a condition when all of them sang together. The reason is
because they memorize, like the lyrics, and they get carried away by the harmony of
the song.
