Abstract

In living life there will certainly be interactions between organism, no exception
between humans and animals. Animals that are close to humans are certainly not only
providing benefits to humans, but also something that can disturb humans. It is common for
humans to fear the presence of certain animals, including cockroaches. Gender differences
certainly indicate differences in response, because in essence the characteristics of the two
are different. This research aims to prove whether there are significant differences or not
between men and women in showing a response to the presence of cockroaches. The sample
that used is students of MAN 3 MAKASSAR.
The research data was taken by direct observation by “prank” using toy
cockroaches. The method used in this research is a comparative method that is comparing the
differences in the result of testing of two types sample. The results of the research turned out
to be quite surprising because it turned out that men were actually afraid (responsive) of the
presence of cockroaches. The results showed that men were 23% afraid, 30% disgusted, and
47% mediocre. While women 40% afraid, 37% disgusted, and 23% mediocre.
